Steps to record a movie in iMovie on your Mac

Step one: First off, you need to open iMovie on your Mac. After that, you now need to head to the Apple Menu and click on File

Step two: Next up, you now need to select Import Media from the drop-down menu

Step three: From the Import screen, you need to click on FaceTime HD Camera button on the left hand side

Step four: You now need to select Import to at the top of the Import screen and choose which project or event you wish to record the movie to. Once you are done, hit the Record button at the bottom center of Import screen. iMovie will then start recording a movie with your FaceTime camera

Step five: Tap the Record button to stop recording. After that, you should see a movie clip in the library on the left. You are now free to edit and crop the video.
