How to Remove Find My iPhone with the Help of Previous Owner

How to Remove Find My iPhone with the Help of Previous Owner

Apple offers some official ways to remove Find My iPhone in case you have purchased a second-hand iDevice and don’t know the password of Find My iPhone that is currently being used in the device. There are two ways to remove Find My iPhone. The first way requires you to meet the previous owner of the iDevice and ask him for help. The other way is to ask the previously owner to remotely remove your iDevice from their iCloud account.
If the Previous Owner is Nearby

If your iDevice is still linked to the account of the previous owner, then you must contact the previous owner for help in order to remove Find My iPhone feature.

Follow these instructions:

Step 1: Open Settings app on your iDevice and navigate to Find My iPhone feature.

Step 2: Now if the previous owner is nearby, ask them to input their Apple ID and password so that you can access Find My iPhone.

Step 3: Once you have access to Find My iPhone, follow the on-screen instructions to remove/disable it.

Step 4: It is also recommended that you reset the device by navigating to General > Reset section of the Settings app of your iDevice.

If the Previous Owner is Not Nearby

If the previous owner of the iDevice is not nearby, then you will need to contact him/her and ask to remove your iDevice from their iCloud account remotely.

Follow these instructions:

Step 1: Contact the previous owner of the device and ask them to log in to iCloud.com with their Apple ID.

Step 2: Next, navigate to Find My iPhone > All Devices section and then select your iDevice from the list.

Step 3: Now ask him/her to use Remove from Account option to remove your iDevice from their iCloud account. Once he/she does this, Find My iPhone feature will be automatically removed/disabled on your iDevice.
Tips to Follow When Purchasing a Second-Hand iPhone

Buying a second-hand iPhone can be a little tricky because there are often some pitfalls involved that you must avoid.

Follow these tips when purchasing a second-hand iPhone:

Buy from a Reputable Dealer: It is highly recommended that you find a reputable second-hand dealer instead of purchasing the second-hand iPhone cheap from Craigslist or eBay.

Make Sure the iPhone Works with Your Carrier: You have to make sure that the iPhone you are about to purchase isn’t locked to a specific carrier.

Make Sure the Activation Lock is Disabled: For obvious reasons, always buy an iPhone with Activation Lock disabled.
